MILG proud to sponsor Te Matatini o Te Kāhui Maunga
E hīkaka ana te kāhui mātauranga te tautoko i tēnei kaupapa whakahirahira mō te iwi Māori, ōtirā mo te ahurea, mo ngā iwi taketake, mā tātou katoa.
Te whare tapere, ngā mahi a rēhia, our performing arts have long been a vessel to preserve and transmit mātauranga to ensure intergenerational influence, guidance and advancement of our many cultural expressions of identity. Te Matatini is a powerful demonstration of Māori excellence. It’s our reo. Gatherings such as Te Matatini enable Māori excellence, and the particular alignment with MILG’s strategic direction is in enabling choice; with whānau encouragement performers choose their kapa, they choose to dedicate time and energy to noho and rehearsals. However, if Hāpai Ō is more appealing, contributions can be made by supporting with composing waiata, whatu kākahu, mahi ringawera, tiaki tamariki, spectating, raising pūtea and many other access points that allow us to engage with kapa haka, with our ahurea however you choose to participate.
Te ao Māori comes together for this kaupapa because it encapsulates all of us
Hosted in Taranaki this year, our connections with each other will be amplified through new compositions, weaving threads of connection to Te Kāhui Maunga from Ngā Wai o Horotiu. An embodiment of the best te ao Māori, ngā reo Māori & te tuakiri Māori, inclusive of all levels of connection and participation. MILG sees Te Matatini as a transformative, multi-sensory experience that evokes all our kare-ā-roto and enriches our connection to the past, present and future. A puna of life-long learning.
Tū ki te kainga, tuku ki te ao. Nō mātou te maringa nui te tū hei pou hāpai i te kaupapa nei.
